Free and Pro ​

HandyPaste is free to download, and the free version isn't a trial: everything you need to save and paste text stays free for good. HandyPaste Pro is a single, one-time in-app purchase for people who fill in forms and automate. There's no subscription and no account.

What's free ​

  • The ⌥⌘V picker, direct pasting, copying, ⌘1–⌘9, preview
  • The library: folders, drag and drop, search, keywords, favorites, Recently Deleted
  • Dates and times in any format, with shifts: {{date}}, {{date:yyyy-MM-dd}}, {{date+1w}}
  • {{cursor}}, {{clipboard}} and simple questions {{input:Name}}
  • Menu bar menu, Services, Save Selection (⌥⌘C), and the Open HandyPaste Picker Shortcuts action
  • iCloud sync, import and export, including Chrome extension backups
  • Statistics: totals, characters inserted and time saved
  • Up to 15 snippets you create. Imported and synced snippets don't count, and never stop working.

What Pro adds ​

  • Unlimited snippets
  • Default answers {{input:Name=there}}, longer answers {{input:Notes…}} and choice lists {{choose:A|B|C}}
  • Form filling with {{tab}} and {{enter}}
  • Variables {{var:Name}} and snippets inside snippets {{snippet:Title}}
  • The Get Snippet Text, Copy Snippet and Create Snippet Shortcuts actions
  • AI apps: Claude and other MCP apps can search, fill in and save your snippets (details)
  • Statistics charts: uses per day, top snippets and top apps

How the limit works ​

The 15-snippet limit applies only to creating snippets: ⌘N, Duplicate, and saving a selection. At the limit, HandyPaste explains and offers Unlock Pro… or Not Now.

  • Imports, sync and Add Examples are never limited. Moving 150 snippets over from the Chrome extension works, and all 150 paste.
  • Nothing above the limit stops working. You just can't create new snippets until you delete some or unlock Pro.

Pro placeholders without Pro ​

You can still insert Pro placeholders on the free version. They're marked Pro in the Insert Placeholder menu, and the editor preview and ⌘Y show what they would do.

When you choose such a snippet in the picker, it shows what's missing and offers:

  • Unlock Pro… (⌘U), or
  • Paste Without Filling (Return): Pro placeholders are pasted as typed, and plain {{input:Label}} questions are still asked.

Buying, restoring and other Macs ​

Open the Pro window from HandyPaste ▸ HandyPaste Pro…, Settings ▸ General, the Get Pro button in the library sidebar, or Get HandyPaste Pro… in the menu bar menu. It shows what Pro adds and its price in your currency.

  • The purchase goes through the App Store, like any in-app purchase.
  • Other Macs: Pro unlocks on every Mac signed in to the same Apple Account. If it doesn't show up, click Restore Purchases in the Pro window.
  • HandyPaste remembers that Pro is unlocked, so it starts correctly without an internet connection.

Using the Chrome extension?

The extension stays completely free. Pro is only for the Mac app.
