Privacy policy
The short version: the HandyPaste extension collects nothing. The extension has no server, no analytics, no account and no network code of any kind. The text you save stays in your browser.
What the extension stores, and where
- Your snippets, your folder tree and your theme preference are kept in Chrome's
storage.sync, so they survive a restart and follow your Chrome profile to the other computers where you're signed in with sync turned on. That sync is performed by your browser under your browser vendor's own privacy policy — HandyPaste never sees it. - The list of recently used snippets is kept in
storage.local, on the current device only.
Nothing else is stored. Snippet text is stored unencrypted, the same way bookmarks are, so please don't keep passwords, recovery phrases or other secrets in HandyPaste.
What the extension collects or sends
Nothing. HandyPaste does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal or usage data. It contains no analytics, no crash reporting and no remote code. The only ways your snippets leave your browser are Chrome's own profile sync, or a JSON export file you create on purpose.
Permissions, and why each one is needed
storage— to keep your snippets, and sync them through your Chrome profile.contextMenus— to show your folders in the right-click menu of editable fields.scripting— to insert a snippet at your caret. A short function bundled with the extension runs in the page only when you act: a context-menu click, a popup click or the keyboard shortcut.activeTab— gives access to the one tab you're pasting into, at the moment you paste. HandyPaste has no host permissions and cannot read any other page, your browsing history or your clipboard.
This website
Everything above is about the extension. This website is separate: it uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see how people find the page — but only if you click Accept in the cookie banner. Until then no analytics script is loaded and no cookie is set.
- What is collected, if you accept: pages viewed, how you arrived (for example a search engine or a link), approximate location at country or city level, device, browser and language, and interactions such as scrolls, outbound clicks and time on page. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Advertising features and Google signals are not enabled, and no data is used for ads.
- Cookies:
_gaand_ga_YFE12VZ83Q, set on this site's domain, which distinguish visitors and sessions. They expire after up to 2 years. - Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page; withdrawing deletes the cookies.
- Who processes the data: Google Ireland Limited, as our processor. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. See Google's privacy policy and how Google Analytics safeguards data.
If you reject, or never answer, nothing is sent to Google. We use no other cookies, tracking pixels, third-party fonts or ads. Like any web server, the hosting provider may keep standard access logs (such as IP address and user agent) for security and operation.
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to its processing, and complain to your data protection authority (in Poland, the UODO).
Children
HandyPaste is a general-purpose productivity tool and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. A change that introduced any data collection would be announced in the extension's release notes first.
